Update: Dealer sent samples to Purdue weeks ago, turned they don’t test diesel. VW Corp points dealer is correct direction, resent samples to another lab. In the meantime VW offered to reimburse rental, but the g/f and I made it work with sharing her car and me riding my bicycle around town/using company 94' Ranger. Get a call last week from VW that the samples came back positive and that VW will cover the repairs. Wooo hooo In the meantime I’ll have the dealer do the water pump and timing belt for an additional some $4 hundo.

During the process I had the dealer do their homework and diagnosis the issue. In the meantime I reached out to VW corp to do their work. In the meantime I was EXTREMELY patient and did not harass anyone during the process ^_^

I responded to a month old post of yours just now. They extended the HPFP warranty through to 120k miles so it should have been covered with no fuss.

When the fuel pump goes it sends metal shavings through the motor.
